Patti and the Nebrodi Mountains Itineraries through the territory of Patti and the Nebrodi Park ITINERARY n°1 SCALA DI PATTI - TINDARI - MARINELLO
Set off from Piazza Marconi and take the national road 113 in the direction of Messina. The road to Tindari winds up through the countryside with an extraordinary view of the sea below.
The road passes through Mongiove, a famous tourist spot in the Patti area with beaches of notable beauty. At the crossroads to Mongiove continue straight ahead up the hill.
As the road ascends you can see in the distance the Sanctuary of Tindari, one of the most worshipped sites in Sicily that hosts the famous Madonna Nera (Black Madonna). In Tindari there are also important remains of the ancient Greek city of Tyndaris including the Greek theatre.
The surrounding landscape of Tindari is of notable beauty. A few kilometres before reaching Tindari we would recommend for you to stop in Scala di Patti to see the Castke of The Baron Sciacca della Scala and its very interesting natural surroundings.
On the way from Tindari to Messina, after about 14 kilometres you will find the crossroads to Oliveri, a picturesque town famous for the reserve containing the Laghetti of Marinello (the little lakes of Marinello). These little lakes of unusual beauty are where particular species of birds nest, immersed in the fine sands of the beach.
